










UNION CITY – Senior Andrew Johns drove in Mississinawa Valley’s lone run on Wednesday as the Blackhawks lost 7-1 to Bethel in a Cross County Conference baseball game.
MV celebrated senior day prior to Wednesday’s game. Johns, the team’s lone senior, is the only three-sport letterman at Mississinawa Valley this year and earned his eighth varsity letter this spring.
Mississinawa trailed 6-0 as Bethel scored two runs in the second inning and four in the third. Johns drove in Trent Collins in the bottom of the third for MV’s lone run then Bethel scored the game’s final run in the top of the fifth.
Mississinawa Valley had six hits and five errors while Bethel had eight hits and two errors.
Cameron Shimp went 2-for-3 with a double for Mississinawa. Collins was 1-for-4, stole a base and scored a run. Kyler Guillozet went 1-for-1. Ethan Dirksen was 1-for-2. Zac Longfellow went 1-for-3. Johns drove in a run.
Matthew Slob pitched 2 1/3 innings, allowing four earned runs on two hits, four walks and one strikeout. Collins pitched 2 2/3 innings, allowing one earned run and two unearned runs on four hits, one walk and four strikeouts. Guillozet pitched two scoreless innings, allowing two hits and one walk.
