Greenville Senior High School Commencement June 3

GREENVILLE — Greenville Senior High School’s 143rd Annual Commencement will take place Saturday, June 3, 7 p.m. at Harmon Field. One hundred and ninety-five students have been approved to participate in this year’s ceremony pending successful completion of necessary requirements.

The Senior High Orchestra, directed by J.R. Price, will play the prelude, the processional, the “National Anthem,” “Alma Mater” and the recessional. Members of the Greenville High School Vocal Music Department, under the direction of Chelsea Whirledge and Erick Van Sas will also perform.

Pastor Matt Haupt of the Evangelical United Methodist (EUM) Church will give the invocation. Principal Jeff Cassell will recognize the class Salutatorian Jeremy Jacob Eshbaugh, and Valedictorian Mackenzie Kaitlynn Slade. Principal Cassell will also present the Class 0f 2017.

Assistant Superintendent Laura Bemus, Career Technolgoy Director Stan Hughes and Assistant Principals Carl Brown and David Torrence will assist in reading the graduates’ names.

Board of Education members: President James Sommer, Vice-President Brad Gettinger, Fred Matix, Dave Ernst and David Madden will present the diplomas. Superintendent Fries and Board Treasurer Carla Surber will assist with the diploma presentation.

Following the diploma presentation, Pastor Matt Haupt will give the Benediction. The singing of the “Alma Mater” will precede the recessional.

Greenville High School Valedictorian Mackenzie Kaitlynn Slade has a weighted GPA of 4.400. She is planning to attend Ball State University and major in Business.

Greenville High School Salutatorian Jeremy Jacob Eshbaugh has a weighted GPA of 4.375. He is planning to attend the University of Michigan and major in Nuclear Engineering.
