FORT RECOVERY – Fort Recovery announced the hiring of former Greenville coach Michael Bashore as its new head boys basketball coach on Monday.
Bashore is replacing Chris Guggenbiller, who served as the head coach at Fort Recovery since the 2014-2015 season.
Coach Bashore has 13 years of coaching experience on all levels, including four years as the varsity boys basketball coach at Greenville. In addition, Coach Bashore was the junior varsity boys basketball coach at Versailles from 2008-2010 and the varsity assistant boys basketball coach at Versailles in 2011 and 2012.
During his time at Greenville, Coach Bashore had a 53-39 record and won the Greater Western Ohio Conference North Division title in the 2015-16 season, the first league title for the school in more than 60 years.
Coach Bashore was named the GWOC Coach of the Year, District 9 Coach of the Year and the Southwest Ohio Division I Coach of the Year. His team set the school record for most wins in a season.
Bashore currently resides in Versailles with his wife, Elizabeth, and their two children, Isiah (5) and Sophia (3).
‘We are extremely excited to have Coach Bashore and his family join our school family and our community in Fort Recovery,” Fort Recovery Superintendent Justin Firks said. “Throughout the interview process, Coach Bashore impressed us with not only his knowledge of the game of basketball but his vision on how to build a program at all levels of our program while developing positive relationships with his student-athletes. His experience coaching in the MAC at Versailles and in the GWOC at Greenville has prepared Coach Bashore to lead the Fort Recovery basketball program now and in the future.”
