New Madison News: Fun at the library this summer

Ever curious about a toad? Ever touch a toad?

Not only will children experience ‘touching a toad,’ but also will note an American kestrel and barred owl close up when they visit the New Madison Public Library this week (Thursday, June 15). The library will host the Brukner Nature Center at l p.m. and the ‘guests’ of nature will be there for learning. This is part of the summer reading program to lead children into exploration and explanation.

This is an annual event when nature takes center stage at the library. It is sponsored with funds from the Robert Bennett Memorial. Bennett enjoyed nature and his family wanted a memorial to bring young people the gift of animal life around them.

On Monday, June 23, join the library staff in “Building A Better World” by constructing your own community. Ever think about the future and what our world will experience and need? What will everyday life be like at school and in the grocery? What kind of transportation and information center will be commonplace? Share creative ideas.

All ages are invited to these two exciting events that are part of this summer’s fun. Parents remember the Hollansburg lunch program through August 16. The Camp Growth program at the United Methodist Church is July 5 to 26. All Tri-Village children are invited to participate. Plan ahead and mark August 17 for Brit Laux and her book signing at the library. Our local author will talk about “All Things New.” The time is 5 p.m. Her book is available on Amazon.

Congratulations this week to all participants in the 5k race that had over 120 walkers and runners enjoying a great morning of sunshine and good fellowship. The event supports the costs of Camp Growth.
