Arcanum Family Movie Night is coming on Saturday, July 15th, beginning at 5 p.m. with food from local vendors such as: Nacho Pig, Tennessee’s Philippine Cuisine and Creme de la Creme Cakery and possibly more. Plans are still in the making with other activities to be announced as soon as they are finalized. The movie will be shown around 9 p.m. in the Ben Franklin parking lot, so don’t forget your blankets and/or chairs! Voting is open to choose the movie – Moana, Disney’s The BFG (Big Friendly Giant), Finding Dory, THe Secret Life of Pets, and the Jungle Book. The 2017 Coffee and Conversation series at the Arcanum Wayne Trail Historical Society will continue on July 8 at 10 a.m. Members of the AWTHS are looking for cheerleaders and advisors from squads of different years from the Southern Darke County Schools to join them at the historical society house to share their experiences and memories. No special invitation is needed and everyone is welcome. This will be a casual dialogue and anyone in attendance is encouraged to share their memories. If you served your high school as a cheerleader why not contact your squad members and plan to join in on what promises to be a fun morning. All you need is your school spirit and stories. This is the fourth season for Coffee and Conversation at AWTHS and it has been well-attended and enjoyed by all with a great time reminiscing. Vacation Bible School at Immanuel Baptist Church will be next week June 26-30 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at 500 West South Street, Arcanum. Children aged 3 years through 6th grade are invited to come and be “Submerged – Finding Truth Below the Surface”. Prepare to embark on an adventure like no other, scouring the mysterious fathoms of the deep sea. Thrilling discoveries await just beyond the portholes of your submarine. Things look very different once you get below the surface – and that’s true for life above the surface, too. As kids submerge themselves in God’s Word, they will discover that Jesus saw people differently. He didn’t just see what’s on the outside; He saw who people were on the inside. The theme is based on the scripture Psalms 139:23-24.
