Police seeking information on man found dead near Greenville Creek

GREENVILLE — Law enforcement officials are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of a Greenville man found Monday morning.

On July 3 at approximately 11:21 a.m., units from Greenville Police Department, Greenville Fire Department and Greenville Township Rescue responded to the area of the 200 block of East Water Street. Upon their arrival, a deceased person was found in a heavily wooded area near Greenville Creek. The Darke County Coroner’s Office was summoned to the scene.

The body was transported to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office for examination and identification. The deceased male was positively identified as Mathew Ryane Addis, 32, of Greenville. The cause and manner of his death are still under investigation, according to Greenville Police Chief Dennis L. Butts.

According to a post by his mother on social media, Addis was believed to have last been seen June 27 at approximately 9 a.m.
