Piqua man dies in motorcycle, truck collision

DARKE COUNTY — A Piqua man is dead following a collision between a truck and motorcycle Thursday evening between Greenville and Gettysburg.

At approximately 5:47 p.m., Darke County Deputies, along with Gettysburg Fire and Rescue and CareFlight, were dispatched to U.S. Route 36 and Stahl Road in reference to a two-vehicle injury accident.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Darla E. Rench, 57, of Arcanum, Ohio, was southbound on Stahl Road. Rench stopped at the stop sign at U.S. Route 36. Rench then pulled into the intersection attempting to make a left turn onto 36. Rench’s vehicle was struck by a 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle, driven by David L. Wray, 54, of Piqua, Ohio, which was westbound on 36.

Wray was treated at the scene by Gettysburg Rescue and then transported to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio, by CareFlight where he succumbed to his injuries. Rench was treated at the scene, but refused treatment from Gettysburg Rescue.

The Darke County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction team was called to the scene. This accident remains under investigation by the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.
