GREENVILLE – Greenville lost 10-3 to Fairborn in a Greater Western Ohio Conference boys soccer game on Tuesday as the Skyhawks earned their first win of the season.
It took just over 10 minutes for Fairborn to score the game’s first goal with Zayne Pacifico putting the Skyhawks up 1-0.
Midway through the half Fairborn scored again, this time from Rhees Adams, to go up 2-0.
Fairborn went up 3-0 with a goal from Jacob Sowers with 7:47 remaining in the opening half and made it 4-0 three minutes later with a goal by Matt Hoffman.
After being held scoreless in the first half, Greenville got on the scoreboard just over two minutes into the second half with Jacob Maher notching the Green Wave’s first goal.
Fairborn responded two minutes later with a Keegan Dierker goal then made it 6-1 two minutes after that with a goal by Joe Nickel.
With just under 27 minutes remaining in the game Maher scored his second goal of the night to reduce Greenville’s deficit to 6-2.
Fairborn’s Troy Herald scored with a little more than 22 minutes remaining to increase the Fairborn lead to 7-2 then the Skyhawks made it 8-2 with Nickel’s second goal of the night.
Greenville’s Dylan Snyder scored off a free kick with just under 13 minutes remaining to give the Green Wave three goals.
Seven minutes later Hoffman scored his second goal of the night for Fairborn to make it 9-3. Then with less than two minutes remaining in the game Dierker scored his second goal to put the Skyhawks up 10-3.
Greenville fell to 1-6-1 overall and 1-3-1 in the GWOC with Tuesday’s loss. Fairborn improved to 1-8 overall and 1-5 in the GWOC.
Greenville will return to action on Thursday with a home game against Troy.
