GREENVILLE — A Dayton man was airlifted with serious injuries after being ejected from his car during an accident Tuesday.
On September 19 at 4:59 p.m. Darke County deputies along with Greenville Rescue, Greenville Township Fire, and Careflight responded to a two-vehicle, injury accident at the intersection of US Route 127 and Greenville Celina Road.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2004 Chevy Cavalier, driven by Scott A. Wornstaff, 57, of Dayton, was traveling eastbound on Greenville Celina Road, when he failed to yield at the stop sign and drove into the path of a 2007 Chevy Cobalt, driven by Thomas E. Smith, 24, of Greenville, which was traveling southbound on US Route 127.
The drivers were the lone occupants in the cars. Wornstaff was ejected from his vehicle and was transported to Miami Valley Hospital by Careflight with unknown injuries. Smith was transported to Wayne HealthCare by Greenville Rescue where he was treated and released.
Neither driver was wearing a seat belt. This accident remains under investigation.
