Troy Christian shuts out the Franklin Monroe girls soccer team

PITSBURG – The Franklin Monroe Lady Jets soccer team dropped a 7-0 non-conference match with Troy Christian Monday night.

Franklin Monroe trailed 5-0 after the first half and never really had many scoring opportunities.

“We struggled tonight completing passes and moving the ball around, and our lack of being able to substitute over the course of the game is hurting us,” FM coach Danny Diceanu said.

“Tonight we played a team had a lot of depth, and they moved the ball well, giving them good scoring opportunities,” Diceanu added.

In the second half the Jets gave up two more goals to drop a 7-0 decision to the Eagles.

“That’s a good team, one of the contenders in the Miami Valley, a solid team with a good coach, and I can’t say enough about them,” Diceanu said. “They probably could have scored a few more goals on us … but they were nice enough to knock the ball around, move some people around as well.

“On a positive note we had some opportunities, especially in the second half. Anna (Flora) had a few looks at the goal, but we just didn’t capitalize. Our girls are working hard, and that’s really all I can ask of them,” Diceanu concluded.

Franklin Monroe fell to 1-6-1 on the year and will travel to Miami East on Thursday.
