TIPP CITY – In front of a packed stadium for Homecoming weekend, the Tippecanoe Red Devils shut out the Greenville Green Wave 47-0 in a Greater Western Ohio Conference matchup.
Tippecanoe controlled the game from the opening kickoff until the last whistle.
The scoring got started early in the first quarter when the Red Devils’ Cole Barhorst rushed for a 57-yard touchdown. That would be the first of three rushing touchdowns in the quarter for Tippecanoe.
Tipp City’s defense played a part in its shutout win, forcing a safety on a fumbled snap by Greenville. At the end of the first quarter, Greenville trailed 23-0.
The home team continued to pound the ball on the ground for most of the second quarter, adding a rushing touchdown from Josh Burritt. Heading into halftime the Red Devils led the Green Wave 33-0.
Both teams were held scoreless in the third quarter, but the scoring resumed for Tippecanoe in the fourth quarter, adding rushing touchdowns from Barhorst and Jackson Yeager.
In the end Tippecanoe defeated Greenville 47-0. Greenville fell to 2-6 overall and 0-3 in the GWOC. The Red Devils improved to 4-4 and 1-2 in the conference.
Greenville will make the trip to Troy on Oct. 20 to take on the Trojans, and Tippecanoe will be at home to face Piqua.
