BOTKINS – Franklin Monroe advanced to the sectional championship of the Ohio High School Athletic Association tournament with a 2-1 overtime victory against Botkins on Saturday.

Brydon Diceanu put Franklin Monroe up 1-0 early in the game, but Botkins got the equalizer to send the game into halftime knotted at 1-1.

The score remained tied until six minutes into the overtime period when Diceanu scored again from 18 yards out to give the Jets a 2-1 victory.

With the win Franklin Monroe advances to the sectional championship against Bethel at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Eaton.
