Time for Halloween goodies as well as ghosts and goblins, famous individuals and creative depictions to bring smiles and treats when door bells are rung. Youngsters love the magic of hiding behind a mask. Safety concerns moves the New Madison village Trick-or Treat event to daylight. Children will be out and about Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. Keep an eye on the traffic and enjoy the pumpkins, cats and witches in friendly yards and on welcoming porches.

The United Methodist Church is again sponsoring a “safe stop” during the two hours. Children have learned from past experience that candy and a break are available at the church on Main Street.

The New Madison Public library is offering a new venture. If writing is way to express yourself or relieve stress, then join the newest program at the library. Heather Bergman, tag teacher at Tri-Village, will lead a Writer’s Club beginning Tuesday, November 7. The sessions will begin at 6 p.m. and local authors will be invited to share experiences.

Also, there is an open trustee seat on the library’s board. If you are interested, contact Brenda Miller, director, and get the information you need. The seven-year term begins in January 2018.

This week the Lego Club is meeting today at 3 p.m. and Busy Bee youngsters can enjoy stories, music and crafts at 6:30 p.m. on the 30th.

Enjoy fall. The chill in the air and good food. Favorite fall food for me would include pumpkin pancakes and apple dumplings! Leaves are starting to turn and the weather is a bit nippy. Sweaters are inviting.
