Arcanum News: First Annual Lady Trojan Tip-Off Basketball Tournament

On November 24 and 25 Arcanum High School will be hosting the First Annual Lady Trojan Tip-Off Basketball Tournament. Teams participating in this year’s tournament include Arcanum High School, Brookville High School, Franklin Monroe High School, and Springfield Northwestern High School. Junior varsity games will be played at 12 and 1:30 p.m. and the varsity games will be played at 6 and 7:30 p.m. on both days. The Franklin Monroe varsity girls will open the tournament Friday evening versus Springfield Northwestern at 6 p.m. The Arcanum varsity girls’ team will open the tournament Friday evening versus Brookville at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $5 for junior varsity games and $6 for varsity games. No passes will be accepted.

On Saturday, November 25 the Arcanum Athletic Department will be holding a pulled pork dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. in the high school cafetorium. Fans can enjoy dinner before the teams play. Tickets are $8 and can be purchased from any Arcanum high school girl basketball player or from Mrs. Kramer in the attendance office during school hours. A limited amount of dinners will be available for purchase the night of the event.

The Annual Arcanum Wayne Trail Historical Society Christmas Bazaar Fundraiser is coming SOON! You’ll want to have this on your calendar as it is always the best bazaar in town! You can do your Christmas shopping here for great selection of gifts, Christmas decorations from gently used items and homemade goodies. Hours are Friday evening November 24 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, November 25 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Check out their Facebook page for pictures and more information. The AWTHS is located at 123 West George Street in Arcanum.

Organizers are in search of more craft vendors for this event. All of the inside spaces within the Arcanum Field House are full, however; there is space available in the shelters in Ivestor Park or you may bring your own tent. Parade entries are being accepted for the Christmas Horse Parade including horse-drawn carriages, wagons, buggies and individual riders. Motorized vehicles and floats that are decorated with festive Christmas lights will also be accepted. Arcanum will begin decorating Ivestor Park with Christmas lights for the upcoming Christmas season on Saturday, November 18 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Christmas light decorating will also be going on at the park on Saturday, November 25 and Saturday, December 2. They are looking for volunteers who would like to help decorate a section of the park in memory of a loved one. They are also looking for local service groups or businesses to help with decorating a section of the park as well.

The Arcanum Business Association is also accepting donations for Christmas lights. If you would like to donate lights to be used for the Christmas light display or would like to give a monetary donation please write your check to the Arcanum Business Association and mail to: 24 W. George Street, Arcanum, Ohio 45304. Donation boxes are located at the following businesses in Arcanum: Belle Fiole Tanning, Miller’s Tavern, Greenville National Bank, Second National Bank, Pampered Pets, Fourman Variety Store, Village of Arcanum office and Orme Hardware. Saturday, November 25 is Small Business Saturday. Beechwood Golf Course will hold their Second Annual Shop Small Saturday event on November 25 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. They are looking for Small Businesses to set up in the Banquet Room, and other Small Businesses with store fronts to partner with them. Contact them for more information as they are looking forward to another great event!

The 5th Annual Arcanum Senior Citizens Christmas Luncheon will be held on Wednesday, December 6 at 1:30 p.m. at Arcanum High School. This event is free and open to all senior citizens of the Arcanum community. The event will take place at the Arcanum-Butler Local Schools Cafetorium. If you plan on attending please RSVP to HS Secretary Mrs. Hollinger at 692-5174 Ext. 1337 by Friday, December 1. Please share this information with your family, friends, and neighbors.
