DARKE COUNTY – Franklin Monroe’s Angie Filbrun was named the Cross County Conference volleyball coach of the year for the 2017 season.
Filbrun led the Jets to a runner-up finish in the CCC rankings to earn the coach of the year honors.
Ansonia’s Bailey Stammen, Arcanum’s Camille Pohl, Arcanum’s Elle Siculan, Franklin Monroe’s Corina Conley, Franklin Monroe’s Makenzie Kreitzer and Tri-Village’s Kara Hollinger each were named firs team all-CCC.
Ansonia’s Aliya Barga, Arcanum’s Macey Hartman, Arcanum’s Audrey Heiser, Franklin Monroe’s Belle Cable, Franklin Monroe’s Brigette Filbrun, Mississinawa Valley’s Sidnie Hunt and Tri-Village’s Alana Holsapple each were named second team all-CCC.
Ansonia’s Emily Gariety, Arcanum’s Gracie Garno, Bradford’s Hannah Fout, Franklin Monroe’s Chloe Peters, Mississinawa Valley’s Makenna Price and Tri-Village’s Edie Morris made the CCC special mention team.
Miami East’s Jonni Parker was named the CCC volleyball player of the year.
Miami East won the CCC championship with a 12-0 conference record, Franklin Monroe finished second with an 11-1 league record, Arcanum finished third at 10-2, Covington finished fourth at 9-3, Bethel finished fifth at 7-4, and Ansonia and Newton tied for sixth at 6-6. Tri-Village and Twin Valley South tied for eighth in the league at 5-7, Tri-County North finished 10th with a 3-8 record, Mississinawa Valley finished 11th at 2-9, Bradford finished 12th at 1-10, and National Trail finished 13th at 0-12.
