VERSAILLES – The Versailles High School girls swim team is looking to continue the success that it had in past years.
This year there are 22 girls on the team including three seniors: Payton Berger, Kari Mangen and Faith Wilker. These three swimmers are competitive athletes and are bringing a lot of experience and leadership to the team.
Versailles has eight returning juniors on the team as well including Tori Ahrens, Courtney Patten, Taylor Cordonnier, Chloe Francis, Grace Francis, Morgan Frederick, Claire Keiser and Katelyn Rush.
The Tigers are fortunate to have so many upperclassmen on the team this year, coach Mark Travis said. It is very positive for the program and their focus and love for the sport really helps build the team.
In addition, Versailles has six sophomore girls on the team. The sophomores are Hannah Bey, Deanna Day, Kassidy Dross, Melissa Gigandat, Kaia Kruckeberg and Lucy Prakel.
Rounding out the team this season include five freshmen: Sara Cavin, Alexis Jay, Bethany Jones, Lauren Menke and Lauren Monnin.
The Tigers looking forward to seeing the underclassmen score strong for them in the water this season.
As a team, Versailles will be strong in freestyle and looks to have some very competitive relay teams. The Tigers look to build off past years’ success and be competitive in the Midwest Athletic Conference. The bar for us as a team has been set high, and these girls are ready to raise that bar even higher in the competitions to come.
The girls are coached by head coach Mark Travis.
