BRANDT – The Arcanum girls basketball team won its Cross County Conference opener on Thursday, defeating Bethel 47-35.

Arcanum took a 9-6 first quarter lead then extended its advantage to 27-12 at halftime. The Trojans led 40-27 through three quarters on their way to a 12-point victory.

Kayla O’Daniel led Arcanum with a game-high 14 points while Elliana Sloan added 10 for the Trojans.

Alaina Hawthorn led Bethel with 12 points.

Arcanum improved to 2-1 overall and 1-0 in the CCC with Thursday’s win. The Trojans will play at Vandalia-Butler at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.
