Bradford baseball team loses to Miami East

BRADFORD – The Bradford baseball team lost 7-1 to Miami East in a Cross County Conference game on Thursday.

Miami East scored the game’s first seven runs with one in the first inning, one in the second, one in the fifth and four in the sixth. Bradford scored its lone run in the bottom of the seventh.

Bradford had six hits and three errors while Miami East had eight hits and no errors.

Parker Smith went 2-for-2 and stole a base for Bradford. Clay Layman was 2-for-3 and scored the Railroaders’ only run. Noah Hamilton was 1-for-2 with a double. Andy Branson was 1-for-3. Gage Wills had a RBI. Wyatt Spangler walked once.

Smith pitched five innings, allowing one earned run and two unearned runs on five hits, one walk, two hit batters and two strikeouts. Josh Phillips pitched one inning and gave up four unearned runs on three hits, one walk and one strikeout. Larkin Painter pitched one perfect inning.

Bradford dropped to 7-11 with Thursday’s loss.
