Greenville baseball team loses at Northmont

CLAYTON – Greenville’s baseball team lost 11-5 at Northmont on Thursday.

After Northmont took a 1-0 lead in the bottom half of the second inning, Greenville scored three runs in the top of the third to lead 3-1. However, Northmont scored six runs in the bottom half of the inning and added two in the fourth to go up 9-3. Greenville added runs in the fifth and sixth innings while Northmont scored two more in the bottom of the sixth for the 11-5 final score.

Greenville had seven hits and three errors while Northmont had nine hits and one error.

Marcus Wood went 2-for-4 with a stolen base and scored a run. Kyle Mills was 1-for-4 with a triple, a run and two RBIs. Alec Fletcher was 1-for-2 with a walk and a RBI. Karsyn Fender was 1-for-2 with a walk and two stolen bases. Ethan Saylor was 1-for-3 with a stolen base and a run. Tyler Beyke was 1-for-4 and scored a run. Tony Sells walked, was hit by a pitch, stole a base and scored a run.

Beyke pitched four innings, allowing six earned runs and three unearned runs on seven hits, four walks, one hit batter and three strikeouts. Colton Zumbrun pitched two innings and gave up two earned runs on two hits, two walks and two strikeouts.

Greenville fell to 9-11 with Thursday’s loss.
