COVINGTON – Arcanum’s Tanner Delk was race champion with a time of 16 minutes. 57.3 seconds on Saturday at the Covington Invitational. His time helped the Tigers to a second place team finish with 90 points.
Also contributing the teams’ second-place finish was Landon Kreusch, who finished in seventh place individually with a time of 17:58.5. He was followed by Griffin Cates (19:23.5) in 24th place, Logan Todd (19:27.4) in 26th place and Ethan Moores (19:47.8) in 32nd place. Other Arcanum runners included Dakota White (19:58.5) and Tyler Pfahler (21:02.6).
Franklin-Monroe placed ninth among teams with 195 points and Tri-Village was 11th with 308 points.
Leading the way for the Jets was Cole Good (18:08.7) in 10th place overall. Brendan Hosler (19:37.2) placed 30th followed by Ross Thayer (20:37.4) in 45th place, Xavier Gilliland (20:41.3) in 49th place and Dylan Brumbaugh (21:50.8) in 67th place. Other runners for FM were Elijah Bush (22:27.5) and Logan Garber (22:40.5).
Harley Ketring was the top finisher for Tri-Village. He crossed the line in 22nd place with a time of 19:16.9. Also for the Patriots, Matthew Holzapfel (22:50.2) placed 80th followed by Ryan Stephan (27:40.4) in 109th place, Cameron Armstrong (27:47.8) in 110th place and Kamran Stucky (32:33.2) in 117th place.
In the girls race, Arcanum finished sixth out of seven teams with 136 points. The Tigers were led by Lydia Shannon in 17th place with a time of 23:17.4. She was followed by Aidan O’Brien (24:40.0) in 24th place, Elora Sudduth (25:24.0) in 35th place, Regan Weaver (27:22.3) in 50th place and Chloe Eberhard (27:32.2) in 52nd place. Also running for the Tigers were Melanie Kutter (29:12.7) and Mekenna Gunckel (36:12.6).
Franklin-Monroe had three competitors in the race with Nicole Brocious leading the way in 23rd place with a time of 24:21.8. She was followed by Raegan Warner (25:45.4) in 37th place and Kim Fourman (49:48.2) in 65th place.
Tri-Village had four runners in the race. Kelsi Wehr was the top finisher for the Patriots in 31st place with a time of 24;47.1. Lissa Siler (25:22.6) placed 34th, Meredith Butsch (27:27.2) was 51st and Samantha Combs (30:54.5) placed 58th.
Emerick finishes second at Greenville Treaty Invitational
GREENVILLE – Greenville’s Riley Emerick was the race runner-up on Saturday in the large school division at the Greenville Treaty Invitational held in the Greenville City Park.
Emerick finished the rain-soaked course in 17 minutes, 31.4 seconds helping the Green Wave to a third-place team finish with 82 points. Alex Subler (18:40.3) also placed in the top 10 coming in ninth overall. Also contributing to the Greenville team score were Seth Shaffer (19:39.4) in 26th place, Matt Karns (19:43.0) in 27th place and Jacob Watson (19:50.6) in 34th place. Other Greenville runners were Gabriel Stevens (20:22.7) and Joey Thomas (21:17.2).
Versailles also competed in the large school race and finished just behind Greenville in fourth place as a team with 84 points. The Tigers’ top runner was Brooks Blakeley (18:12.7) in fifth place. Stuart Baltes (19:02.5) placed 13th for Versailles and was followed by Noah Barga (19:31.6) in 24th place, Brian Heitkamp (19:34.0) in 25th place and Jack Gehret (19:48.6) in 29th place. Also runner for the Tigers were Jarrett Petitjean (19:57.4) and Alex Brewer (20:01.2).
In the small school race, Bradford finished 16th as a team with 404 points, while Ansonia was 18th (404 points) and Mississinawa Valley was 21st (637 points).
Ansonia’s Logan Warner was the highest individual placer coming in 44th overall with a time of 20:18.9. Other Ansonia runners were Garrett Kaiser (23:04.8) in 110th place, Kyle Thornhill (23:11.6) in 115th place, Chad Millikin (23:19.0) in 117th place, Michael Hall (23:52.2) in 129th place, Cody Williams (23:59.4) in 131st place and Andrew Thornhill (24:12.1) in 134th place.
The Railroaders were led by Jay Roberts, whose time of 20:24.5 landed him in 47th place individually. He was followed closely by Jackson Moore (20:30.6) in 49th place. Also for Bradford, Aiden Beachler (21:03.7) placed 64th, Shane Bryan (27:13.1) finished 172nd and Hunter Biddlestone (28:59.6) finished in 180th place.
Mississinawa Valley was led by Shane Wogoman (26:00.3) in 164th place. He was followed by Michael Rammel (26;57.5) in 171st place, Jacob Dirmeyer (29:12.9) in 181st place, Connor Buffenbarger (30:20.4) in 183rd place and Davian Trump (34:02.6) in 187th place.
Rammel leads Greenville girls at Treaty Invitational
GREENVILLE – Greenville’s Isabelle Rammel finished the race in 20 minutes, 52.9 seconds on Saturday to place seventh overall in the large school division of the Greenville Treaty Invitational held in the Greenville City Park.
Rammel’s placement helped the Greenville girls to a sixth-place finish as a team with 152 points. Centerville took first place with 17 points and seven of the top 10 individual runners.
Also contributing to Greenville’s sixth-place finish was Lauren Dull (24;56.5) in 54th place, Kenzie Baker (27:26.1) in 82nd place, Lani Shilt (27:50.8) in 96th place and Mollie McLear (33:16.4) in 117th place. Also running for the Lady Wave was Isabella Smith (36:03.9) and Raegan Satterwhite (38:23.6).
In the small school division, Versailles captured the runner-up team spot with 79 points. Ansonia finished 10th as a team with 289 points and both Bradford and Mississinawa Valley had individual runners but not enough for a team score.
The Tigers were led by Liz Watren (22:01.2) in 12th place. She was followed by Maria Mangen (22:13.7) in 15th place, Madelyn Holzapfel (22:14.5) in 16th place, Lauren Menke (22:41.2) in 22nd place and Emma Peters (22:54.3) in 24th place. Also running for Versailles was Renea Schmitmeyer (23:42.3) and Delaney Barga (23:51.6).
For Ansonia, Emily Wright (24:18.5) placed 50th, Lydia Snyder (24:22.3) placed 54th, Olivia Wright (24:36.3) placed 61st, Cierra Rosinski (25:27.6) placed 83rd and Mariah Troutwine (25:29.9) placed 85th to account for the team score. Also running for the Tigers, Kierra Reichert (26:22.3), Deanna Moody (33;16.7) and Kristine Shaner (35:51.5).
Bradford had four runners compete in the race with two of them finishing in the top 10 individuals. Skipp Miller was fourth overall with her time of 21;13.0, and Austy Miller was seventh in 21;35.6. Also for Bradford, Olivia Daugherty (23:18.9) finished 27th and Mercedes Smith (25:08.1) finished 78th.
Mississinawa Valley had just one runner – Noemi Arrona – who came in 156th with a time of 29:52.7.

Minster wins Versailles Invitational
VERSAILLES – The Versailles Invitational Tournament was delayed almost two hours on Saturday at Stillwater Valley Golf Course, and later shortened to 11 holes due to inclement weather.
With final results being based on the number over par for the first 11 holes played by the top four players of each team, Minster emerged as the winner at 22-over par.
Versailles finished in seventh place as a team at 43-over par. The Tigers were led by Connor VanSkyock at 6-over par. He was followed by Will Eversole and Austin Pleiman, each at 12-over par and Alex Keiser (+13). Also competing for the Tigers were Isaac White (+14) and Ethan Kremer (+15).
The rest of the team standings were as follows: Graham was runner-up at 24-over par followed by St. Henry (+31), Delphos St. John’s (+33), Coldwater (+37), Anna (+38), Versailles (+43), Miami East (+64), Milton-Union (+65) and Parkway (+69) to round out the top 10 teams. New Bremen and Covington tied for 11th place at 75-over par and were followed by Marion Local (+84), Russia (+86), Lehman Catholic (+90), Versailles B (+91), Versailles (+91), Miami East B (+118), Bradford (+119) and Franklin-Monroe (+131).
The match medalist was Anna’s Cole Mauer at 1-under par. He was followed in the top 10 individuals by Minster’s Ethan Lehmkuhl (+3), Graham’s Chase Poole (+3), Minster’s Joseph Magato (+3), St/ Henry’s Reed Koesters (+4), Delphos St. John’s Adam Gerker (+4), Graham’s Lane Smith (+5), St. Henry’s Jack Romer (+6), Versailles’ Connor VanSkyock (+6) and Coldwater’s Carson Muhlenkamp (+6).
For Franklin-Monroe, Jacob Aslinger was the top finisher at 23-over par and Bradford was led by Connor Jones at 24-over par.
Minster 165, Versailles 177
VERSAILLES – Versailles’ Ethan Kremer and Minster’s Grant Voisard each shot 40 to share the match medalist honor, but it was Minster that came away with the match victory last Thursday at Stillwater Valley Golf Course.
Also contributing to the team score for the Tigers were Connor VanSkyock with a 43 and Austin Pleiman and Will Eversole each with 47s. Also competing for Versailles were Alex Keiser (48) and Isaac White (49).
The loss drops VHS to 6-2 overall and 4-2 in the Midwest Athletic Conference.
Arcanum 178, Miami East 186
ARCANUM – Cade Brubaker and Jack Shannon each shot 43 to help lead Arcanum to a 178-186 win over Miami East last week on the Creekside nine at Beechwood Golf Course.
Kendall Wright carded a 44 while Carter Gray, Evan Atchley and Trevor Bailey all shot 48 for the Trojans.
Miami East’s Sam Zupedka was medalist with a 39.
GIRLS GOLF
Arcanum 218, Miami East 219
ARCANUM – Lexi Unger shot a 48 to earn medalist honors in leading Arcanum to a narrow victory over Miami East, 218-219 at Beechwood Golf Course.
Miami East’s top golfer Paige Lawson was a stroke back at 49. Others contributing to the team score for the Trojans were Madison Mankin (55), Sydney Artz (56) and Elliana Sloan (59). Also competing in the match for Arcanum were Maddy Wogoman (63) and Arya Musselman (72).
GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
Bradford 3, Dayton Christian 0
DAYTON – The Railroaders went on the road last week to play Dayton Christian at South Metro in Dayton and came away with a three-game sweep 25-18, 26-24 and 25-15.
Macie Reck was Bradford’s leading scorer with 20 points. She also had 2 kills and 12 digs during the match. The 12 digs helped her break the school’s career record for digs. The record was 524 and Macie currently has 555 thus far with a lot of season left.
Bianca Keener was the leading attacker with 9 kills for the match. She also had 1 solo block and 3 points. Maggie Manuel followed with 9 points for the match with 2 aces and 6 digs.
The win improved Bradford to a season record of 3-4 overall and they are 0-1 in the CCC.
Greenville 3, Piqua 1
PIQUA – A host of Lady Wave players performed well in leading Greenville to a 3-1 win over host Piqua on Thursday night by scores of 25-19, 25-18, 18-25, 25-17.
Emma Klosterman powered her way to 15 kills, while Koryann Elliott and Josi Worden contributed 11 and 10 kills respectively. Shelby Hermann had five ace serves and 26 digs, while Chloe Cox added 10 digs for the defense. Brooke Stachler added 28 assists and Libby McKinney had 14 assists.

Eagles fly past Wave
EATON – The Wave netters were stopped this past Wednesday by the high flying Eagles of Eaton by the count of 4-1. Saving the shutout was the first doubles duo of Marabelle Lance and Anna Manges, who clipped the wings of Addie Bell and Brianna Ward, 6-4, 6-2. The second doubles tandem of Felicity Lance and Faith Mansfield almost got Coach K and the crew another point but lost out in three sets to Anna Kremer and Erika Wilkinson, 4-6, 6-4, 6-1.
At first singles, Natalie Milligan went down to sophomore swinger Sophia Murphy 6-2, 6-4. Second singles saw an even closer match that went the Eagles way at 6-4, 7-5 with Grace Murphy upending Emily Marchal, 6-4, 7-5. Third singles player Abby Swensen played the last of the Murphy girls, Teresa and almost pulled one off losing out, 7-5, 6-3.
”We ran into a buzz saw tonight as they had a huge crowd watching and cheering them on at their courts behind the McDonald’s. They have the Murphy girls who are a drive-thru nightmare that usually gets them three points and the match. This is even before locking into their doubles squads. The Murphy girls have plenty of game and that is a huge reason they are ranked No. 4 in the latest Division II Miami Valley Tennis Coaches Association rankings,” said head coach Jim Koontz.

Wave netters ranked 9th in Division I
MAD RIVER – The Greenville Green Wave showed why they are ranked ninth in the area by improving to 5-2 overall and 3-0 in the Greater Western Ohio Conference by knocking off Stebbins, 5-0. The Stebbins home-court advantage last Thursday did nothing to slow down the Lady Wave. First singles stalwart Natalie Milligan stewed up a victory by dispatching Kristen Jenkins, 6-0, 6-1. Number two singles baseliner Emily Marchal put down her law by taking care of Katie Jenkins, 6-1, 6-0. Abby Swensen served up the double bagel at third singles, 6-0 , 6-0 over Val Tlata.
The first doubles duo of Anna Manges and Marabelle Lance hung up another point on the Indians by dominating Vi Hunyh and Gracie Song, 6-1, 6-0. The second doubles tandem of Amanda Chui and Katie Baughman baffled Anna Nguyen and Cunnet Palmer to the tune of 6-0, 6-2.
“I am very pleased that the coaches association has ranked us number nine in the whole area as we are working hard each and every practice to get even better,” coach Jim Koontz said.
