Arcanum News: It’s a boy for the Bronsons!


Congratulations to former resident Sheena (Rothwell) Bronson and her husband, Jake Bronson, on the birth of their son, Quinn Oliver Bronson. Quinn was born on Sept. 4 at Miami Valley Hospital weighing 7 pounds, 10 ounces, and measured 22 inches long. Sheena is an AHS graduate and the daughter of Todd and Lisa Rothwell of West Manchester. Jake is the son of Robert and Trina Bronson; and Dave and Kelli Abruzzo; all of Eaton. Sheena and Jake make their home with Quinn in Kettering. What precious treasure, he’s a gift beyond measure – enjoy your little boy that has blessed your new little family!

Congratulations to Rick and Sue Studebaker! Their granddaughter, Emily is now Mrs. Drake

Fichthorn. Emily and Drake were married on Sept. 22 in North Carolina. The two met in High School and God knitted their hearts together as they grew from best friends to falling in love. Emily will finish this semester at Campbell University, NC and then transfer to Augusta University, GA to continue her path toward a nursing career. Emily’s husband is a soldier in the

US Army stationed at Fort Gordon, GA working in the field of geospatial intelligence. Emily is the daughter of Michelle (Studebaker) McKinney (AHS class of 89) and Patrick McKinney (Greenville Class of 89). Pat and Michelle state “They blessed beyond measure by the joy in our daughter’s heart and the addition of son.” Drake’s parents are Jason and Allison Hartman of North Carolina. Former Greenville residents, Roger McKinney and Vicki Epstein are Emily’s paternal grandparents. Best wishes for a long and happy life, Emily and Drake Fichthorn.

The Arcanum Wayne Trail Historical Society is taking donations of gently used Christmas decorations and Christmas items for their upcoming bazaar to be held on Nov. 23 and 24. You are welcome to leave items on the back porch of the building at 123 W. George St. through Nov. 8. Thank you for supporting our community and the AWTHS.

This Saturday is the 2018 Arcanum Fire Department Open House from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 208 S. Main St. Come visit the Fire Station to learn about fire safety, and take a ride in a fire truck. Kids’ games will be held all day. Please bring your family and enjoy the day!

The Arcanum Alumni Association invites you to enjoy a Pulled Pork Bar-B¬-Q Dinner, prior to the Oct. 26 football game. Dinners include a pulled pork Bar-B-Q sandwich, Au Gratin Potatoes and applesauce. Tickets are $7.50 per person and will be served at the Field House, carryout or dine-in. Tickets will be sold at home football games, home volleyball matches and at Sutton’s on Oct. 13 and 20. All proceeds will go to the Arcanum Alumni Scholarship Fund.

Mark this on your calendar – the 2nd Annual Christmas in Arcanum and Horse Parade is set for Saturday, Dec. 8! More details to come!

Nathan Edwards and his team from ABC News Channel 22 and Fox 45 visited Brumbaugh Fruit Farm this week! They quickly learned about their famous apple fritters and apple cider! Look for a special story to be featured on the show “Hometown Eats” that interviews owner, Winston Brumbaugh!

Congratulations to the Boys’ Junior High Football team who are undefeated! Way to go, Trojans! Fantastic job – much luck for the remainder of the season!

The Arcanum High School Marching Band traveled to Northwestern High School’s Invitational Contest on Sept. 22 and took First Place in Class B, and picked up three extra awards for Best Music, Best Visual, and Best General Effect – an “Excellent Rating with much potential”

This week is Homecoming at the high school with the parade on Thursday evening at 7 p.m., football game against Tri-County North on Friday at 7 p.m. and the Homecoming Dance on Saturday night.

Check out Shoptoberfest on Oct. 13 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Arcanum Wayne Trail Historical Society building, 123 W. George St. This is new, first-time event created by four local friends who wanted to provide a fun shopping event for the fall season. The four ladies are entrepreneurs who will host the following businesses: Leathered Up, Stay Classy Boutique, Color Street Nails, Vintage Planks handcrafted signs, Thirty-One, Discovery Toys, Signature Homestyles, yard games and more. There will be basket raffle that will hold items from each of the vendors listed above. Be sure to come checkout Shoptoberfest!
