Marion Local to host annual marching band show

MARIA STEIN – The Marion Local High School Band will host its 44th annual Midwest Ohio Marching Band Competition on Oct. 20 at Marion Local’s Booster Field.

Currently there are 19 bands scheduled to perform in the OMEA-adjudicated event including Maumee High School, Lincolnview High School, National Trail High School, Fort Recovery High School, Bethel High School, Covington High School, New Bremen High School, Versailles High School, Arcanum High School, Marion Harding High School, Greenville High School, Edgewood High School, Newton High School, Piqua High School, Bellefontaine High School, Tippecanoe High School, Reynoldsburg High School and Olentangy Liberty High School.

Marion Local, led by Director of Bands Brad Spettel, will perform its 2018 competition show, “Fruit of the Captor,” just prior to the final awards ceremony.

New this year, overall awards will be given to the Class C and Class B bands, including grand champion of Class C and B with a second awards ceremony, including a second grand champion, for the Class A and AA bands.

Gates open at 3 p.m. with the first performance scheduled for 4 p.m. Concessions will be available.
