Maid-Rite announces sportsmanship winners

The Maid-Rite Sandwich Shoppe has announced its sportsmanship winners for the weeks of Oct. 1 and Oct. 8.

For the Week of Oct. 1, the winners were Luke D. Rammel, Jr. High cross country; Nathan Shaffer, 7th grade football; Noah Ellis, 8th grade football; Ella Strawn, Jr. High volleyball; Ashlyn Zimmer, Jr. High cheerleading; Annie Hayes, High school volleyball; Jenna Hughes, Girls soccer; Clayton Herron, Boys soccer; Amanda Chui, Girls tennis; Mikayla Miller, Girls golf; Kamron Berghoff, High school cross country; Jacob Goldsmith, Varsity football; Nate Perreira, Reserve football; Jared Hite, Freshmen football; Eden Sgro, High school cheerleading.

Wave netters reap All-Area awards

Several members of the Greenville girls tennis team recently received All-Area recognition after posting a 15-3 record this season.

First singles standout Natalie Milligan and second singles phenom Emily Marchal were named to the All-Area second team, while third singles sensation Abby Swensen received All-Area special mention. Doubles did not disappoint either as the first doubles tandem of Anna Manges and Marabelle Lance got a nod for second team All-Area.

These young ladies of Coach Jim Koontz will be honored at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 24 at Fairmont High School

Registration open for Franklin-Monroe Youth Girls Basketball Fundamental League

The Franklin-Monroe Lady Jets will host its annual Youth Girls Basketball Witner Fundamental League beginning in December and running through mid-January.

The league is open to any girls currently in grades 1-6 with instruction to be given by FMHS Lady Jets basketball players and coaches.

Cost for the league is $25 per player and each will receive a T-shirt and free admission to the high school girls game against Arcanum at 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 17, 2019.

The games will be held from 8:30 to 10 a. m. On the following five Saturdays: Dec. 1, 8, 15 and Jan. 5 and 12.
