GREENVILLE — Local leaders representing business, government and education gathered Wednesday at Darke County Economic Development’s Partnering For Progress Fall Mixer, held at Bistro Off Broadway in Greenville.

Partnering for Progress (P4P) brings together educators, students and businesses with the purpose of fostering homegrown talent and the goal of keeping skilled, young workers in Darke County. By doing so, P4P seeks to attract new businesses to the area as well as maintain the economic viability of current industries within the county.

The featured guest at the event was new Whirlpool Greenville Plant Leader Jenni Hanna, a 27-year veteran of the company, who introduced herself to the gathering.

“I’m very passionate about making sure we have opportunities for every graduating person,” she said, adding she felt privileged for being in a position to help.

YOLO’s Matt Steyer gave attendees an update on that group’s projects, particularly the new park area currently under construction at the corner of Martin and Broadway in Greenville.

P4P Director Tamala Marley expressed her thanks to participating Darke County businesses for their support.

“We have asked a lot from you, and you have provided very generously,” she said.

Darke County Economic Development Director Mike Bowers echoed Marley, saying, “We’ve been very fortunate, very blessed, to be able to work with you and for you at Darke County Economic Development for our schools.”

He added, “Obviously, agriculture is a big piece of what we do in Darke County, but we’re very fortunate to have a strong manufacturing base with Midmark, BASF and GTI and a lot of other companies.”
