GREENVILLE – An ambulette style wheelchair van had no passengers Monday afternoon when it was involved in an accident on the outskirts of Greenville.

At approximately 12:25 p.m., emergency personnel from Greenville Township Fire and Rescue along with deputies from the Darke County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to the intersection of State Route 571 and Jaysville St. Johns Road in regards to an injury accident.

According to deputies on the scene, a gray Chrysler Town and Country was northbound on Jaysville St. Johns Road when the driver of the vehicle failed to yield to oncoming traffic and pulled out into the path of a Ford ambulette wheelchair van traveling westbound on State Route 571.

The Chrysler collided into the driver’s side of the Ford ambulette, causing the ambulette to travel off the right side of the roadway and make contact with the guardrail before coming to rest in the middle of the roadway.
