ARCANUM – The Greenville boys varsity golf team shot a 355 to place third in the MVL Miami Division and fifth overall at the Miami Valley League tournament.
“As a team we were only 7-strokes from winning the tournament,” said Greenville coach Brian Stickel. “It was really tight between the top five teams. Interesting thing is the same five teams along with a couple others will be fighting it out for the four spots at Sectionals on Tuesday. It’s gonna come down to who makes the putts.”
Evan Saylor paced the Wave with an 82 and Warren Hartzell shot an 84.
“Evan played really well today,” stated Stickel. “He had the second best score in the tournament. His scored propelled him to make First Team MVL.”
“Warren also made first team,” Stickel added. “He played great again today.”
Ash Williams came in with a 94 and Alex Kolb carded a 95 on the day to round out the top four.
“Ash once again had his lowest 18-hole score this year,” Coach Stickel noted. “Alex had one bad hole that hurt his score, but overall he played well.”
Jack Marchal finished with a 95 and Eric Price ended with a 103 for the Green Wave.
