Bradford Council meets Aug. 19

BRADFORD — The Bradford Village Council will meet in special session on Thursday, Aug. 19, 2021 at 7 p.m. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the proposed Phase II Environmental Review Contract by CTL Engineering.

Board of Elections meets Aug. 24

GREENVILLE — The Darke County Board of Elections will meet Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2021, at 10 a.m. for a special meeting to review a request for reconsideration of a candidacy petition. The board meets in the office located at 300 Garst Avenue, Greenville.

Visit the Fair’s Spiritual Life Center

GREENVILLE — During the Great Darke County Fair, various area churches will be at the Spiritual Life Center building (also called the Ohio Center). The building is typically open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Those stopping by may get a cup of cold water or a coffee, share a prayer request, look over the displays from a number of community organizations or just sit and relax. Anyone is welcome to enter a drawing for a pair of Illumination Festival Concert tickets. Churches taking part include Trinity Wesleyan Church on Aug. 20; Darke County United Methodist Churches on Aug. 21; The Greenville Church of Christ on Aug. 22; St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church with the St. Denis Roman Catholic Church on Aug. 23; The Greenville Church of the Brethren and the First Presbyterian Church on Aug. 24; The Crazy For Christ Church on Aug. 25; Area Lutheran Churches on Aug. 26; and the Pitsburg Church of the Brethren, the Beechgrove Church of the Brethren and the East Main Church of Christ on Aug. 27.

Church to host special speaker Aug. 22

GREENVILLE — First Bapticostal Church, 5372 Requarth Road, Greenville, is inviting the public for a special service Sunday, Aug. 22, at 11 a.m., featuring guest speaker Pastor Jeff Brandon Jr., of Lynn, Ind. The church hopes all will be able to come join them.

Ansonia Community Food Pantry open

ANSONIA — The Ansonia Community Food Pantry, serving all of Darke and Mercer counties, is operated by the cooperative efforts of the Ansonia Church of God, the St. Henry Cluster, and the Ansonia United Methodist Church. The pantry is stocked with a variety of products through the generous donations of food and financial support of the churches, surrounding community. The pantry is open from 10 to 11 a.m., Mondays, and 6 to 8 p.m., Thursdays. Call between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. No weekend calls please. The pantry is operated by appointment only, no walk-ins please. Call 937-337-5781 for instructions on how to schedule an appointment.

Wakefield Reunion canceled

GREENVILLE — The Wakefield 173rd annual Harvest Home Reunion, originally scheduled for Labor Day Sunday, Sept. 5, 2021, at North Park on Lease Avenue, Greenville, has been canceled due to increased COVID cases. Those with questions may contact Marilyn Fritz by email at [email protected].
