GREENVILLE — Commissioner Matt Aultman spoke on behalf of the recessed bids from Tuesday’s meeting.

In the commissioner session Tuesday, the board called a recess in order to allow the bids for the Electricity Supply Agreement to come in. Bids were due at 1:30 p.m. to be read aloud during the Regular Session; however, due to the allotted time frame allocated for the project, the commissioners deemed it necessary for the final bid to come through before making a final agreement.

“This was an Electric Service Bi-agreement for all of the county’s energy. We do this every few years, and this was a refresh for our RFP that we put out through our energy provider, Palmer Energy,” Aultman said.

Aultman said the final bid was received in the office just before 4 p.m. on Tuesday.

“Freepoint came in at $0.05449 per kilowatt hour, and Dynegy came in at just a tic less at $0.05115 per kilowatt hour, and it was awarded by the board to Dynegy for the next six months worth of energy,” Aultman said.

Aultman said they were a little higher than their old energy pricing, but they “are greatly lower than what their estimate was.”

“Our estimate was well over $0.06 per kilowatt hour when we had the original look at it here a couple of weeks ago, so it’s great to see the price come in a little bit cheaper and save the county quite a bit of money,” Aultman said.

Aultman said this bid and price negotiation was strictly for county facilities because each township has to act on their own.

The Regular Session for the Darke County Commissioners scheduled for Thursday, March 2, at 1:30 p.m., will be held at the Darke County Board of DD/Birchwood Training Center, 5844 Jaysville St. Johns Rd., Greenville, for proclaiming the Month of March as “DD Awareness Month”. The Commissioners and DC BDD Staff & Clients will be having a “Proclamation” signing at 1:00 p.m. Everyone is invited.
