Adoptable Pet of the Week

DARKE COUNTY — This week’s “Adoptable Pet” features a lovable dog from the Darke County Animal Shelter in need of a caring home.

Say hello to this sweet boy Rocko! Rocko came to the shelter as an owner surrender, due to no fault of his own. Staff were told Rocko is a two-year-old neutered male German Shepherd mix. Rocko’s owner reported he is great with kids, cats, dogs, and crate trained. On Feb. 18, however, Rocko did not do well with a male dog during a meet and greet. Staff do recommend, if you have another dog, bring them for a meet and greet. Rocko loves car rides, and cuddles. Rocko has shown staff he knows how to sit and loves to play tug-o-war but really any toy will do. Rocko love treats. Rocko is learning how to walk on a leash and doesn’t seem to mind the other dogs here at the shelter. Rocko did great for his nail trim and exam where he weighed in at 65.8 pounds and was given Bordatella, parvo/lepto/distemper vaccines, dewormed, and found to be heartworm negative. Rocko came in already microchipped.

Adoptions are $90 cash/check. Visiting hours are Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.; Saturday 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Come in to meet Rocko and all the other adoptable dogs at the Darke County Animal Shelter located at 5066 County Home Road in Greenville. Have another dog? Bring him or her along for a “meet and greet!”
