GETTYSBURG — On Jan. 4, at approximately 12:16 a.m. Darke County Sheriff Deputies along with Gettysburg Fire & Rescue were dispatched to the intersection of U.S. Route 36 and Old U.S. Route 36, Gettysburg, in reference to a two vehicle accident with injury.

The preliminary investigation revealed a 1994 Buick Regal driven by Chad Nation, 32, of Gettysburg, was traveling west on U.S. 36, when he slowed in traffic for a deer close to the roadway. While Nation was slowing for the deer, a 1998 Dodge Ram 1500 was also traveling west on U.S. 36. The Dodge was being driven by Nicholas Iacovelli, 33, of Greenville. Iacovelli failed to maintain assured clear distance ahead and struck the rear of Nation.

Gettysburg Rescue treated and released Iacovelli, Nation, and Nation’s passenger, Holly Clements, 27, at the scene.
