BPL announces March events

BRADFORD — Spring is just around the corner and people are starting to venture out more. Bradford Public is excited for spring and all it has to offer, including great events at your local library. Here is what they have planned for March.

Preschool Story Hour will be held each Tuesday from 11 a.m.-noon, with the exception of March 19 (Election Day). Registrations are required to attend these fun-filled programs geared to get you preschooler ready for kindergarten. Please call or stop by to sign your child up.

Mike and Judy Feinstein of The Stillwater Stargazer Astronomy Club will be present on Tuesday, March 5 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. to get visitors ready for the upcoming eclipse. An informal presentation about the science of eclipses and what to expect on April 8 will be followed by some hands on crafts and activities for any children attending. This event is for all ages. Registrations are not required to attend. Participants will go home with one free pair of Solar Eclipse glasses per person, while supplies last.

The Nifty Needlers fiber arts club will meet on Thursday, March 7 from 6-8 p.m. Participants are encouraged to bring along your projects to work on during these informal meetings. Get inspiration for your next project, show off your work in process, get advice from other artists or learn how to do cross stitch, embroidery, knit, crochet, sew, or quilt. No registrations are required to attend.

Homeschool students in grades 1-8 are welcome to attend the STEAM Workshop on Thursday, March 14 from 10:15-11:30 a.m. These hands on workshops are free to attend and will help encourage a love for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math. Registrations are not required to attend.

Senior Citizens will meet to play cards on Thursday, March 14 and March 28 from 12:30-3:30 p.m. If you enjoy a good game of Euchre and even better conversation, this group is for you. Stop in to join the fun.

Just Glue It will be held on Tuesday, March 19 from 6:30-8 p.m. Attendees will be crafting a hanging floral arrangement using tin cans, paint and decoupage perfect for your front door or wall this spring. Cost for this class will be $5 per person. Sign-ups will be available March 1 and space is limited to 24 participants. Call today to get your name on the list.

BINGO is back on Thursday, March 21 from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Always free to play, players are welcome to bring along a prize to share valued at $5 or less, if you wish. No registrations are required to attend.

Terrific Tuesdays will continue this month. Light snacks will be provided at each event. March 5 will be a fun obstacle course for preschoolers from 2-3 p.m. March 12 students in grades k-5 will do a scavenger hunt around the library from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Teens will be making a set of drink coasters on March 19 from 3:30-4:30 p.m. using ceramic tiles and sharpies. Family Night will be March 26 from 6-7 p.m. Bring the whole family in to create a unique piece of art for your home.

Mark your calendars for April 8 as they present “All Eyes on the Skies” to the surrounding community. This family friendly Eclipse viewing event will be held at the Bradford Exempted Village School District and will include food to purchase by the Bradford Athletic Boosters, bounce houses, crafts and activities for the children and entertainment for the whole family. Bring along your lawn chairs and blankets and be prepared to be amazed as the sun disappears for a few brief minutes. Gates for parking will open at 11 a.m. Event to start at noon and will end around 4 p.m. Liability waivers will be required to attend and will be available at the library, on the library’s webpage as well as several businesses in the Bradford area. They will also have forms available at the gate. Every person attending will be given a free pair of solar eclipse viewing glasses while supplies last.
