GREENVILLE — A summer tradition since 2010, youth tennis returns to Greenville on Sunday evenings for students in Darke County. The six-week camp features the USTA’s play format, which uses age appropriate equipment, court dimensions and scoring to make the game more fun for younger players from the start. No tennis experience is needed and with the game tailored to kids’ size and age, participants learn skills quickly and easily.

Greenville Boys’ Varsity Tennis Coach Sam Bowers, a 2013 graduate of GHS, Kent Holmes, a 2011 graduate of GHS, and Suzie Brown, GJHS Tennis coach will be running the camp. They will be assisted by members of the Greenville High School tennis team and adult volunteers.

The camp is open to any Darke County student who has finished first grade up to students entering 9th grade. Play will take place at the Greenville High School tennis courts, 100 Green Wave Way. The cost of the program is $65 and includes an age appropriate racquet, practice ball, and team t-shirt. This year’s camp starts on Sunday June 9 and finishes on July 21, with no session scheduled on Father’s Day (June 16). Students entering 2nd-6th grade meet from 6:00-7:00 p.m. and students entering 7th-9th grade meet from 7:00-8:00 p.m.

All sign ups are done online at MidwestTeamTennis.com with registration closing on May 19 at midnight. Any questions can be sent to Suzie Brown, [email protected], 937-459-9219 – cell, 937-547-9904 – home. You can also find us / like us on Facebook at Greenville Community Tennis Association.
