Versailles finish in the top five at MAC Track and Field Championships

VERSAILLES — Versailles hosted the MAC Track and Field Championships on May 7 and May 10. The girls team finished as runner-ups with the boys finishing in fourth place.

In the girls relay events, Versailles took second in the 4×800 meter relay with a time of 10:07.11. They also took second in the 4×200 with a time of 1:48.81. In the 4×400, Versailles took fourth with a time of 4:13.11.

In the individual field events, junior Josephine Pothast took third in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 16.40. Senior Cassie Bomholt took fifth with 17.20. In the 1600 meter run, freshman Corynn Goubeaux took fifth with a time of 5:31.63. In the 400 meter dash, sophomore Katey Litten took fifth with a time of 1:03.17. Junior Miriam Gehret took third in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 47.29. In the 800 meter run, senior Meredith Barga took fifth with a time of 2:28.87 and Goubeaux took sixth with 2:30.60.

In the field events, sophomore Elli Stammen took fourth in the long jump with a distance of 15’10.75”. Senior Heidi Stammen took second in the pole vault with a height of 11’. Elli took third with 10’06”. In shot put, senior Tori Tyo took first with a distance of 36’2.25”. Junior Molly Phelan took second with 33’7.25”. Junior Margret Mcglinch took fourth in the discus throw with a distance of 104’01”.

In the boys relay events, Versailles took third in the 4×800 meter relay with a time of 8:29.82. They took fifth in the 4×100 with a time of 46.21. Versailles finished third in the 4×400 with a time of 3:32.54.

In the individual track events, sophomore Gideon Beasley took fourth in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15.91. In the 100 meter dash, sophomore Conner Gibson took second with a time of 11.33. Versailles sophomore Tony Moorman took third in the 1600 meter run with a time of 4:28.03. Sophomore Eli Dirksen took fourth in the 400 meter dash with a time of 52.98. Gibson took first in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 40.29. Moorman took fourth in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:02.32 and sophomore Marcus Briscoe took fifth with 2:03.07. Junior Tyler Barga took third in the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.64.

In the field events, junior Leland Bolin took first in the discus throw with a distance of 172’05”.

The girls will compete in the OHSAA Division II Track and Field Southwest Districts on May 16 and 18 at Piqua. The first day will start at 4 p.m. with the second day starting at 1 p.m.

The boys will compete in the OHSAA Division III Track and Field Southwest Districts on May 14 and 18 at Piqua. The first day will start at 4 p.m. with the second day starting at 10 a.m.
