UNION CITY, Ohio — A Union City, Ohio, man is in custody after attacking his girlfriend.
Jeremy Martinez, 45, was arrested by Union City Police Department officers May 3, charged with Felonious Assault, a second-degree felony.
According to the Union City Police report, the Union City Ohio Fire Department was dispatched to 431 ½ East Main Street on Wednesday in reference to a woman that was cut by a piece of glass. Upon the arrival of Fire Department personnel, it was found that the woman had been cut by her boyfriend. When police officers arrived on scene, the male subject fled on foot.
Officers checked the area and they were able to find Martinez. He was transported to the Union City Ohio Police Department. During the interview it was found that Martinez became upset with the female because she went to a gas station and got a fountain drink and did not get him one. Martinez then threw a glass of lemonade into the woman’s face. During the act of throwing the lemonade in the woman’s face, Martinez broke the glass cup he was holding. Martinez proceeded to cut her with the broken glass causing a larger laceration on the woman’s arm.
The woman was transported to Wayne HealthCare Emergency Department by the Union City Ohio Fire Department, where she was treated and released for her injuries, Martinez was transported to the Darke County Sheriff’s Jail, where he was placed into the custody of the on-duty jail staff where he has faces a preliminary charge of Felonious Assault.
Martinez has a lengthy criminal history with convictions for offenses including burglary, breaking and entering, criminal mischief, and domestic violence.
