DARKE COUNTY — The Darke County Fair has received a letter of commendation from the Ohio Senate, saluting the organization on being named the “Best County Fair” for 2016 by Ohio Magazine.
The fair was announced as the state’s best county fair in November, as voted upon by the magazine’s readership.
The proclamation, signed by Senate President Keith Faber (R-Celina) and Sen. Bill Beagle (R-Tipp City) says:
“On behalf of the members of the Senate of the 131st General Assembly of Ohio, we are pleased to commend The Great Darke County Fair on being selected as the Best of Ohio Best County Fair for 2016 by the readers of Ohio Magazine.
“In being selected for this noteworthy distinction, The Great Darke County Fair has been recognized as one of the area’s most reputable events, and congratulations are certainly in order. Over the years, its management, staff, and volunteers have demonstrated such key qualities as tenacity, cooperation, and civic concern, which have undoubtedly led to the prosperity of this annual attraction.
“All those associated with The Great Darke County Fair have shown the potential of individuals to have a positive effect on the quality of life in our society, and they have gained the esteem and appreciation of the entire community. Their dedicated efforts are the hallmark of concerned and responsible citizenship, and we applaud them on their fine work.
Thus, with great pride, we salute The Great Darke County Fair on this special accolade and extend best wishes for continued success.”
Upon receiving the commendation, the Darke County Fair Board of Directors issued a statement, saying, “The Board of Directors, employees, department heads and volunteers are extremely grateful that the 131st General Assembly of Ohio provided a written commendation to The Great Darke County Fair for being selected as the Ohio Magazine reader’s pick ‘Best County Fair’ in Ohio.”
Daryl Riffle, Fair Board manager, added, “We are extremely humbled by both the award and the commendation. We are working hard on the 2016 Fair preparations, with our goal to continue to provide an enjoyable and exciting entertainment experience for all 2016 fairgoers.”
