Greenville softball team loses GWOC North game to Troy

TROY – The Greenville softball team suffered its first Greater Western Ohio Conference loss of the season on Wednesday, falling 6-5 in eight innings at Troy.

Both Greenville and Troy scored a run in the first inning on Wednesday. Greenville went up 3-1 in the top of the third, but Troy tied the game with one run in the third and one in the fifth. In the eighth inning Greenville scored two runs, but Troy rallied for three in the bottom half of the inning to win the GWOC North game 6-5.

Greenville had seven hits and no errors in the game while Troy had 12 hits and three errors.

For the Lady Wave Allison Minnich went 2-for-4 with a RBI, a stolen base and a run scored. Makayla Hanes was 2-for-4 with a walk, a double, a stolen base and a run scored. Logan Tabler went 1-for-3 with a double.

Ashton Kester went 1-for-3 and scored a run. Jazzlyn Petry was 1-for-4 and scored a run. Sydney Grote walked twice and drove in a run. Lani Shilt scored a run.

Minnich pitched the complete game for Greenville, allowing six runs on 12 hits, one walk and one strikeout.

Greenville fell to 7-2 overall and 2-1 in the GWOC North with the loss. Troy improved to 5-2 overall and 3-1 in the GWOC North.
