GREENVILLE – Five first inning runs propelled the Greenville softball team to an 8-1 victory against Fairborn on Friday.
Greenville scored five runs in the bottom of the first and then added one in the second for a 6-0 lead. After Fairborn scored a run in the top of the fourth, Greenville added two more runs in the bottom half of the inning.
Greenville had seven hits and no errors in the game while Fairborn had six hits and two errors.
Ashton Kester went 1-for-3 with a triple, two RBIs and a run scored for Greenville. Cassie Cromwell was 2-for-4 with a RBI and a run scored. Karsyn Shaffer went 1-for-3 with a walk, was hit by a pitch, stole a base and scored three runs.
Makayla Hanes was 1-for-4 with a double, a RBI and a run scored. Logan Tabler went 1-for-2 with a walk, a stolen base and a run scored. Alli Hill was 1-for-4 with a RBI. Alexis Byers scored a run.
Allison Minnich pitched five innings, allowing one run on three hits, no walks and two strikeouts. Sydney Grote pitched two innings in relief and allowed no runs on three hits, no walks and one strikeout.
Greenville improved to 9-2 with the win, and Fairborn fell to 1-6.
