NEW MADISON – Jonny Wilson pitched a shutout and drove in the winning run as the Tri-Village baseball team beat Mississinawa Valley 1-0 in the Ohio High School Athletic Association tournament on Wednesday.

The game’s only run came in the bottom of the sixth. Tri-Village’s Jordan Buckley led off with a walk and then stole second and third. Wilson then drove him in with a single into right-center.

Mississinawa Valley threatened in the seventh inning with a pair of hits. Andrew Johns and Trent Collins hit back-to-back singles to lead off the inning to put two on with no outs.

Mississinawa Valley tried to put down a sacrifice bunt, but Wilson quickly fielded it and threw out the lead runner at third. The Patriots got the second out of the inning on a fielder’s choice at third, and Wilson struck out the game’s final batter to strand two runners and preserve the 1-0 victory.

Tri-Village had three hits and one error in the game while Mississinawa Valley had four hits and no errors.

Wilson pitched the complete game shutout to earn the winning, allowing four hits and one walk while striking out five for the Patriots.
