BOE approves personnel

ARCANUM — The Arcanum-Butler Local School District Board of Education approved several personnel issues during the most recent regular meeting.

The board approved one-year teaching contracts for Jaimee Garbig, middle school intervention specialist; Brian Reichert, high school language arts; and Kevin Stanley, high school intervention specialist.

Coaches for the 2015-16 school year were approved. They were Doug Morris, high school assistant football (2/3); Josh Whittaker, high school assistant football (2/3); Steve Hottle, high school assistant football (2/3); Andrew Bryant, high school girls golf; Adam Timmerman, high school junior varsity boys basketball; Rick Stone, middle school assistant football; and Angie Cates, eighth grade girls basketball.

Volunteer coaches approved were Theo Whitaker, high school assistant football; Jared Morris, high school assistant football; Butch Burns, high school weight room supervisor; Brian Sprada, middle school assistant football; Erica Byer, middle school assistant volleyball; and Katy Boston, high school gymnastics.

Supplemental contracts approved were SADD club adviser, Lora Brandon; Renaissance adviser (1/2), Lora Brandon; and National Honor Society, Tim Pfahler.

Resignations were accepted from Megan Donaugh, high school language arts teacher, and Colleen Baker, high school science teacher at the end of the 2014-15 school year, and Abbey Moore, girls golf coach; Josh Whittaker, assistant middle school football coach, Doug Morris, assistant high school football coach; and Adam Timmerman, eighth grade class adviser for the 2015-16 school year.

A contract was approved with Thomas Hartle for crossing guard services, and Brooklyn Baker and Chris Dickey were approved as summer maintenance workers.

In other business, the board approved:

-expenditure of $1,500 to Lois Spitzer for completion of GASB34 fiscal year end financial reports;

-payment of $35,400 annual premium for insurance;

-student handbooks and fees for the next school year;

-general service contract with Mdeca for $23,178.65;

-payment of $714 membership fee to the Southwest Ohio Educational Purchasing Council;

-and other regular business.

In addition to the individual school reports, sports teams were recognized for their achievements this past school year.
