Motorcyclist airlifted after hitting tractor

DARKE COUNTY – A New Bremen man was airlifted Saturday after he was ejected from the motorcycle he was driving after it hits a tractor.

At approximately 5:27 p.m. Darke County deputies along with Ansonia Rescue, North Star Fire and CareFlight, responded to the injury crash at the intersection of State Route 705 and Whiterd Road.

The preliminary investigation revealed a 2014 Orange and Black Harley Davidson Road King operated by Robin Webster, 54, of New Bremen and passenger Amy Webster, 46, of New Bremen was traveling Eastbound on State Route 705 and attempted to pass a Blue New Holland tractor pulling a manure spreader operated by Jerome Otte, 57, of Maria Stein.

As the tractor slowed and attempted to make a left turn onto Whiterd Road, the motorcycle struck the front left tire of the tractor ejecting both occupants.

Robin was not wearing a helmet, and was flown to Miami Valley Hospital aboard CareFlight. Amy was wearing a helmet and was taken to Coldwater hospital. The operator of the tractor was not injured.

The Darke County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Team was also on scene to investigate the crash scene. This accident remains under investigation by the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.
