NEW MADISON — There will be a cookout with the cops with DNA kits for children from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the New Madison Police Department, 124 S. Harrison St.
The New Madison Police Department, along with the Miami Valley Crime Lab, will help take pictures, fingerprints and DNA samples to complete the kits for parents to take home.
“We hear every day of a child lost, or worse, abducted by someone who has no control of their senses,” said a spokesperson. “Amber alerts help to notify law enforcement of a missing child. Having a completed DNA kit available provides an immeasurable tool to help law enforcement agencies in the process of locating and identifying a child. It may take a village to raise a child, but a DNA kit may help save a child.”
Also featured Sunday will be free hot dogs and hamburgers as well as soft drinks and the DNA kits.
Sponsors of this event are Krogers, Flaig Lumber and Dollar General.
