TROY — Everyone needs something to do on a Friday night. Why not go to the movies? On Friday, January 8th at 7:30 p.m. the Troy-Hayner Cultural Center at 301 West Main Street in Troy will present the 1986 action drama, Top Gun. This free and open to the public showing includes an introduction to the film, café style seating, popcorn and soft drinks.
Top Gun, starring Tom Cruise, Kelly McGillis, Val Kilmer, Anthony Edwards, and Tom Skerritt was produced by Don Simpson and Jerry Bruckheimer and directed by Tony Scott. The article “Top Guns” written by Ehud Yonay for California magazine inspired the film. In 2015, the United States Library of Congress selected the film about the competition between top Naval aviators, for preservation in the National Film Registry. Top Gun won the Academy Award for Best Original Music.
This film is intended for mature viewers and may not be appropriate for children under 13.
