BRADFORD — Bells of all sizes and shapes are on display at Bradford Public Library and will be for at least several more weeks.

The duration of the display, which has been up since the second week of January, has been extended due to the donation of larger bells from Tom Longenecker of Greenville.

“You will want to see the refurbished bells he has as part of his collection,” said a spokesperson at the library. “Cynthia Vogel of Versailles, Mary Elizabeth Gibson-Davis of Circle Hill, Dan Burch of Bradford and Library Director Cherie Roeth also have part of their bell collections displayed.”

Library officials extend appreciation to Longenecker for the loan of his antique school bell for display in the library. The bell is just one of six bells he has personally restored. He said he was able to find the bells at estate sales, auctions and at antique shops.

According to the spokesperson, Longenecker has quite a bit of experience and training restoring the paint and body of vehicles and he was able to use that to, what he says, ‘make things beautiful again.”

Roeth encourages anyone who has a collection and wants it displayed at the library to call 448-2612.

Bradford Public Library has many displays throughout the year and tries to feature one each month.

The next one will be a stand doll collection.
