Greenville boys basketball team again loses to Sidney by 1 point

SIDNEY – Sidney made a game-winning free throw with just four seconds remaining to defeat Greenville 61-60 in a Greater Western Ohio Conference boys basketball game on Friday.

Greenville led early in the game, holding a 14-11 advantage through one period and a 29-24 lead at halftime. Sidney battled back to take a 44-43 lead in the third quarter. The teams then played evenly in the fourth quarter as the Yellow Jackets held on to win by one point.

It was Greenville’s second one-point loss to Sidney this season, having lost 68-67 on Jan. 22 in Greenville.

Clay Guillozet led Greenville with a game-high 24 points on Friday. Also for the Green Wave, Isaiah Gable scored 17 points, Aaron Rich scored 10, and Devin Hendrix scored nine.

Cameron Gallimore led Sidney with 20 points in the victory. Also for the Jackets, Andre Gordon scored 12 points, Lorenzo Taborn scored 12, Darryl McNeal scored eight including the game-winning free throw, Devan Rogers scored five, Jacob Cooper scored two, and Allec Gordon scored two.

Greenville fell to 11-10 overall and 5-5 in the GWOC North with the loss while Sidney improved to 15-7 overall and 6-4 in the GWOC North.

Greenville will conclude the regular season on Saturday at Versailles.
