GREENVILLE – The Darke County YMCA received the second half of a $25,000 donation from the Greenville National Bank on Friday, as part of a campaign for several needed improvements to the facility.
“We are incredibly grateful to Greenville National Bank for their support and generosity,” said Darke County YMCA CEO Sam Casalano. The check they present today is the second part of the $25,000 pledge to assist the YMCA of Darke County toward the Special Projects fund.”
Sam Suter, vice president of the Greenville National Bank, said he was glad the bank could help to support an organization so important to the community.
Casalano said the improvements were part of a $300,000 project that has received the support of many area banks, businesses, organizations and other generous donors.
“We are raising money specifically to assist with many urgent facility needs and enhancements in the realm of safety, security, roofing, flooring and more,” Casalano said.
Projects will include a new roof, which is currently under construction, as well replacement of a steam room boiler, main boiler and water heater; replacement of the carpet in the Child Development Center; replacement of the men’s locker; replacement of the pool pump and diving blocks in the pool area; and security system upgrades.
“It is our goal to make essential upgrades in order to ensure our facility is able to meet community needs and serve our members for years to come,” Casalano said. “The Y is about strengthening community today; however, it can be said that the Y has been strengthened by a very caring community partner. We thank them for coming alongside us in such a meaningful way.”
