WILMINGTON – Greenville’s season came to an end as five Green Wave wrestlers competed in the Division II district wrestling meet on Friday and Saturday at Wilmington High School.
Greenville’s William Nibert began the district tournament with a first round win in the 182 pound class, pinning Mt. Healthy’s Jamonte Crossty in 2:59. In the quarterfinals Bellbrook’s Tyler Wiederholt beat Nibert by a 23-4 technical fall.
Nibert won a 13-0 major decision against Franklin’s Hunter Lester in the second consolation round but then lost in the third consolation round as Kenton Ridge’s Nate Walden pinned him in 4:28 to end Nibert’s season.
Greenville’s Jeremy Eshbaugh started out with a 6-3 loss to Tippecanoe’s Caleb Blake in the first round of the 145 pound class. In the first consolation round Eshbaugh beat Logan Elm’s Caleb Linton 5-2 but then was pinned by Wyoming’s Noah Pitman in 4:43 in the second consolation round.
The Green Wave’s Jacob Mikesell started out the tournament with an 8-6 loss to New Richmond’s Austin Planck in the first round of the 120 pound class. In the first consolation round Mikesell pinned Monroe’s Cory Tracey in 4:29, but in the second round Mikesell lost 11-4 to Logan Elm’s Isaac Bennett.
Greenville’s Dean Hurd started out the districts with a 17-2 technical fall loss to Circleville’s Nate Keaton in the opening round of the 113 pound class. Hurd then was pinned by Tippecanoe’s Russell Ramsey in 1:57 in the first consolation round.
Greenville’s Austin Lacey began the tournament by getting pinned by Eaton’s Wade Monebrake in 1:06 in the 106 pound class. Lacey pinned Wilmington’s Cameron Smart in 4:12 in the first consolation round before losing 10-8 to Logan Elm’s Chase Watts in the second consolation.
