Mississinawa Valley Local Schools honored for work on athletics fields

UNION CITY – Pioneer Athletics has announced that Mississinawa Valley Local Schools has been selected as a winner of the 2015 Field of Excellence Award.

As a winner, Mississinawa Valley Local Schools will receive a certificate of recognition and a Fields of Excellence banner that it can display at its winning field. Pioneers also may use Mississinawa’s winning field picture in upcoming publications and annual calendar.

The Field of Excellence award program honors outstanding athletics fields and the hardworking field crews who diligently maintain them. The Fields of Excellence award program was established in 1997 and has honored more than 835 athletics fields from around the country since its creation.

Colleges, universities, high schools and park and recreation departments from all over the United States submitted photographs, letters of recommendation and application forms describing their institutions detailed athletics field maintenance program. A rigorous judging process yielded 84 winners from a pool of more than 250 applicants with two athletics fields selected as scholarship winners.
