FORT RECOVERY – The Arcanum Lady Trojans softball team started its 2016 season Saturday sweeping a non-conference doubleheader against Fort Recovery.

Senior pitcher Abbie Bruns picked up the win in the first game, striking out eight in the 31-2 victory. Leading the offense was Loganne Stone going 3-for-4 with four RBIs, Brittany Kinney going 3-for-5 with five RBIs, Shelby Howard going 3-for-5 with five RBIs and McKenzie Sharritts going 4-for-5 with six RBIs.

The second game of the doubleheader was led by sophomore Elle Siculan, who had three strikeouts in a 16-3 victory. Leading the offense were Brittany Kinney, who went 3-for-3; Shelby Howard, who went 4-for-4; McKenzie Sharritts, who went 2-for-4 with five RBIs; and Kaitlyn Zell, who went 3-for-5 with two RBIs.

Arcanum, which is now 2-0, will have its home opener on Monday when it plays host to Minster.
