WAPAKONETA – The Greenville boys tennis team won its season opener on Monday, defeating Wapakoneta 4-1.
In first singles Wapak’s Stinebaugh beat Greenville’s Noah Haupt in three sets, 3-6, 6-4, 6-2.
Greenville’s Craig Manges beat Wapak’s Werling 6-1, 3-6, 7-6 (8-6) in second singles, and in third singles the Green Wave’s Quintin Muhlenkamp beat Schlenker 7-6 (7-1), 6-1.
Greenville’s first doubles team of Alex Lance and Tyler Davis beat Schroer and Gibson 7-6 (8-6), 6-4. The Wave’s second doubles team of Austin Grote and Josh Smith swept Hetrick and Birkmeier 6-0, 6-0.
Greenville is now 1-0 on the season while Wapakoneta fell to 0-1.
Greenville’s doubles teams of Pablo Badell/Zach Miller and Max Onkst/Aaron Lobenstein won extra matches.
Greenville will travel to Beavercreek on Tuesday.
