Mississinawa Valley softball team loses CCC opener to Miami East

UNION CITY – The Mississinawa Valley softball team lost its Cross County Conference opener 7-2 to Miami East on Tuesday.

Miami East scored three runs in the top of the third and four in the sixth. Mississinawa scored one in the fourth inning and one in the seventh.

East had 15 hits in the game, and MV had nine. Neither team committed an error.

Makayla Coning went 3-for-3 with two doubles, a stolen base, a RBI and a run scored for Mississinawa Valley. Paxton Scholl also went 3-for-3 and stole a base. Abby Livingston was 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored. Leslie Dirksen was 1-for-4 with a double. Bailey Johnson also went 1-for-4.

Scholl pitched the complete game, allowing seven earned runs on 15 hits, three walks and three strikeouts.

Mississinawa Valley is now 1-1 overall and 0-1 in the CCC. The Lady Hawks will play at National Trail on Wednesday.
